Kefalos Live

Got back last Tuesday - heat was unbearable back here when we landed - 4 hours after leaving Kefalos with it's lovely breeze. Yes, numbers are down this year. Manolis in B52 estimated they are down about 30% but I think it is more than that.  We were there when a travel company (Low Cost Hoidays?) went bust and a lot apartments in Kefalos were affected. We were told that Anthoula had only 5 rooms taken out of 48 and Archondia had 3 rooms taken out of 25 - many others were also down. Let's hope it picks up now that the school holidays have started as May & June were not very good either.

Manolis didn't express an opinion but I think it is a combination of many reasons including bad publicity in newspapers here regarding the immigrant problem; a fear of economic instability in Greece and the rise in all inclusive holidays. We heard that when the Blue Lagoon opened they said they would employ about 80% Greeks but apparently there are only 5-6% there. The only benefit to Kefalos is some apartments being taken up by the foreign workers at the Blue lagoon. We saw no evidence of any migrants around Kos town - apparently they are in a camp at Pili.

It was quiet at in May when we stayed at Kokalakis, and our friends were at Kamari Bay. Speaking to various hotel and bar owners, including Fortis at Bravo, they didn't seem to hopeful for this year. Concerns as you say over the economy, bad publicity over refugees, all inclusive, and possibly some Brits waiting to see what happened about the Brexit vote. I just wish people would get off their backsides and GO ON HOLIDAY! We heard the refugees are in a camp in Pyli 0- mostly bored and asking to go home again.

It's been a bit cloudy today, still banging hot though.

1. A lovely day in Kefalos, wish I was there!
2. Apparently bookings to Greece up by some 40% this year, as people are staying away from Turkey and Middle East due to terrorism concerns.
3. I have put a link on "Lounge Bar, Chat About Anything" about the huge WW2 bomb found in Thessaloniki. It was found near where the family of Vasilli (Hotel Kokalakis) live! I have e-mailed them hoping it all works out OK.

28 mph winds today

both cameras are out now, bad enough that one has been out since december but both it's just not on

6 or8 sun loungers on the beach with people on them, plus people sitting at the tables out side the restaurant, yeah seasons started

oh wow we have a new camera, with a fish eye lens shows a lot more than the old ones

Yes, very clear picture, a huge improvement. Today the sea looked so blue and peaceful. Makes a change from seeing some chap in a room with a computer!

can't open the camera, keeps asking for user name and password, but doesn't respond when entered poo

Yes, noticed this yesterday. Very annoying as I look everyday just to remind me of what I'm missing! Did manage to get to the webcam views yesterday by putting in kefalos webcams travel but this was just a video of the changes throughout the day. Tried today, just says for the webcam owner to reactivate the camera.

perhaps it's just gone off line again. but never had the log in bit before

i think the camera has gone off as i tried to get on there via google and it showed the camera one week ago which was the last time i viewed it on here

now it's saying page not found
